Inspections Complete-Front Entrance to Pana Community Hospital to Open Monday, January 13
FastCare Services Available Mid-February

Pana Community Hospital is excited to announce the completion of Phase II of their Building Expansion Project. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) inspected the project Wednesday, January 8th and the hospital has now received the official “Certificate of Occupancy”, which allows PCH to move into the new addition!  The front and emergency entrances will be open to the public beginning Monday, January 13th.  FastCare will not offer services until next month once staffing requirements for the new urgent care service are complete.  The Emergency Department and FastCare will now share the same walk-in entrance.

Front parking lots will also open Monday with overflow patient parking located in the West parking lot of Pana Community Hospital.  Golf cart pick up service will be available for those patients needing a ride from their car to the front entrance.  The rear entrance of the hospital that has been used as a “temporary entrance” for the past year will now be closed to patients.

Phase II of the project began in February immediately following the opening of the Outpatient Services Addition.  The new addition includes a reception area, registration offices and FastCare.  “We are very excited to be moving in to our new space and complete this historic building project,” stated Trina Casner, President and CEO.  “Every planning decision throughout this process was made with focus on what would be best for our patients, staff and visitors.  We believe this project will allow us to better serve our community’s health care needs for many years to come.”

On August 10, 2017 the hospital broke ground on what is one of the largest building projects it has ever undertaken.  The nearly $20.4 million dollar project added 30,000 square feet to the hospital.  The Building Project was designed in two phases.  Phase I, or the Patient Services addition, created additional space for a new surgical suite, laboratory, diagnostic imaging, cardiopulmonary, materials management and nutritional services including the Harvest Café.  Phase II has now added a new front reception area, registration, FastCare and many other upgrades and renovations to our existing hospital.

So what is next for Pana Community Hospital?  According to Trina Casner the job of upgrading both our physical plant and equipment is never finished.  “We will open our new Gift Shop, which we have named ‘Retail Therapy’ in the spring.”  Renovations will also take place in our current Emergency Department and patient rooms on second floor.  “As we begin a new year and a new decade, Pana Community Hospital is looking forward to a bright future and continuing our mission to be a leading partner in assuring community-based quality health care.”
