Dr. Brooke Dean Commits to PCH

Pana Community Hospital along with her parents announces the graduation of Brooke Dean from the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Rockford, IL.  Brooke will begin her three year residency at University of Missouri in Columbia on June 10, 2020.  Upon completion of her residency, Brooke has signed a commitment to begin her medical career at Pana Community Hospital joining the physician staff at Community Medical Clinic. 

Brooke Dean is a graduate of Hillsboro High School.  She is the daughter of Todd & Lora Dean of Hillsboro and the granddaughter of Tom & Mayola Dean of Pana, Jim & Carol May of Hillsboro, Dennis & Debby Dougherty of Serena, IL and the late Bill Hosick.  Brooke received her BS in Biology with minors in Business Administration; Philosophy & Religion from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO.  She went on to receive a Master degree in Microbiology & Immunology from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA.

During her studies Brooke gained invaluable experience working for the Community Medical Clinic.  In the summer of 2012, Brooke completed a summer internship at the clinic.  In the summer of 2015, Brooke returned to the clinic until May of 2016. During this time, she worked as a policy intern with Dr. Laurie Cunnington and Jennifer Wellbaum.  Throughout her college career, Brooke returned to Pana Community Hospital on her breaks to shadow Dr. Terry Cunnington.  Under Dr. Cunnington’s direction, she gained experience interviewing and evaluating patients.  As a fourth year medical student, Dean worked under Dr. Cunnington and Dr. Shabaz Mohammad in one of her final medical school rotations.

The Community Medical Clinic has hosted many interns over the years.  “We look forward to welcoming Brooke to our staff in the fall of 2023,” stated Dr. Terry Cunnington, provider at Community Medical Clinic.
