Vickie Coen, Chief Clinical Officer/Nurse Executive to Retire from Pana Community Hospital

After 40 years of service to Pana Community Hospital, Vickie Coen has announced that she will retire in April. Coen, who currently serves as the Hospital’s Chief Clinical Officer/Nurse Executive has provided patient focused leadership which included previous roles for PCH as Quality Management Services Director and Chief Nursing Officer.

Throughout her distinguished career at PCH, Coen has led the organization through many projects and was instrumental in implementing the Hospital’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement program (QAPI). She has also directed the hospital through many accreditation surveys including the most recent DNV survey. Coen has been a key decision maker for all the building projects that affected clinical spaces in the hospital, most recently she has been instrumental to the success of the 3-year master facility plan building project as well as the current MRI suite project.

One of the most significant roles Coen has performed recently was her work on the Emergency Operations Plan Team. This team was activated as part of the Hospital’s response to the COVID pandemic. Her guidance to this team was invaluable when we were forced to make quick decisions and plan for potential emergency scenarios. Coen navigated through these times in a calm, consistent and caring manner, always putting the patient at the forefront of every decision.

“I leave the hospital knowing that the staff, medical staff, and leadership of the facility are in great hands.  Decisions that were made and continue to be made come from the heart of healthcare by putting patients first in all that we do.  I have been privileged to represent the best healthcare team,” stated Coen.

“I have worked with Vickie from the beginning of my career at PCH as its CFO then its CEO. Vickie has been someone I have looked to for professional advice and have very much appreciated her support over the years,” stated Trina Casner, President and CEO. “Her leadership as our Chief Clinical Officer/Nurse Executive has been second to none, I will miss her advice and counsel but wish her all the best in this next adventure!”
